Travel for a quote, clear for everyone

Some jobs can't be priced from a photo. On UpMyChain, every trip to prepare a quote is announced, paid upfront and proven on site: the client never pays for nothing, the pro never travels for nothing.

💶€50 incl. VAT, fees included, the same for everyone
⏳48 h to set the day and time
🛡️14 days to come, or you're refunded

In short, depending on your role

🏠You're a client

  • You pay €50 incl. VAT on UpMyChain before the visit, UpMyChain fees included: you pay nothing more. It comes on top of the quote (like an Airbnb cleaning fee).
  • You receive a 6-digit code: give it to the pro only once they're at your place.
  • Email reminders 24 h and then 2 h before they arrive.
  • No date confirmed within 48 h, or no visit within 14 days: full refund, automatically.
  • You can cancel online up to 24 h before the appointment: full, automatic refund, no fees.

🧰You're a pro

  • Propose the visit in the conversation: never travel before it's paid.
  • Offer up to 3 slots: the one the client picks is confirmed straight away, with their address and directions.
  • On site, enter the client's code: it's your proof of visit (your location, optional, strengthens it).
  • Quote declined or no follow-up: you still get €42.50 (€50 minus 15% commission).
  • Transparency: the client pays €50.00 (UpMyChain fees included); the 15% commission (€7.50) is taken from your share, you receive €42.50.
  • Project launched: same commission (15%), you receive €42.50 paid with the job.
  • After the visit, you have 7 days to send your quote or decline with a reason. Without a reply, the client is refunded and you receive nothing. Your responsiveness is shown on your profile.

Step by step

Every step leaves a dated record in the conversation: that's what protects both sides.

  1. The visit is proposed in the chat Pro

The pro sends a “Visit for a quote” card with up to 3 slots within 14 days. The client picks one, gives the address and sees all the rules and fees before paying.

  2. The client pays €50 incl. VAT Client

The money is held on UpMyChain: the pro can't touch it until the visit is proven. The client gets their visit code by email and in the conversation.

  3. The pro confirms day and time within 48 h Pro

The slot the client picked is confirmed straight away. Otherwise the pro has 48 h to set the day and time (countdown on both sides), failing which the client gets a full refund.

  4. Reminders 24 h and 2 h before UpMyChain

Client and pro each get two dated reminders: nobody can say they weren't told.

  5. On site: the code Client

The client gives their code, the pro enters it in the app. The time, and location if the pro allows it, are recorded; the client instantly gets a “visit confirmed” email.

  6. The quote arrives in the conversation Pro

The pro has 7 days to send their offer, fees included, or decline with a reason. Without a reply, the client can give them 3 more days; otherwise they get a full refund.

  7. The €50 goes where it belongs UpMyChain

Project launched: it joins the job budget, paid to the pro when you approve the work (or 14 days after delivery with no complaint). No follow-up: it pays for the pro's trip.

Where does the €50 go?

Six situations, one rule each. None is left to the judgement of a single party.

Visit done, project launched

The €50 is added to the job budget and paid with the work, when you approve it: €42.50 to the pro, €7.50 UpMyChain commission.

€42.50€7.50
to the procommission

Visit done, quote declined or no follow-up

The trip is paid: €42.50 to the pro, €7.50 UpMyChain commission.

€42.50€7.50
to the procommission

Date not confirmed within 48 h

Full €50 refund to the client, automatically, no fees.

€50
back to the client

No code entered within 14 days

The pro didn't come: full refund to the client, automatically, no fees.

€50
back to the client

The pro reports the client absent

The money is frozen. The client has 48 h to dispute; UpMyChain decides on the evidence (reminders, time, location).

€50
frozen, UpMyChain decides

Visit done, no reply from the pro within 7 days

Neither a quote nor a reasoned refusal: full €50 refund to the client (after 3 more days if they grant them).

€50
back to the client

🧾Proof on both sides

  • The client can't claim the pro didn't come: the code entered, the time and location are recorded, and they get an email right then.
  • The pro can't claim the client was absent without reporting it on site, within the slot, with location; the client is notified and can dispute.
  • The reminders sent 24 h and 2 h before are dated and kept.
  • The client rates the visit as soon as the code is entered: a pro who travels for nothing sees it on their profile, and low ratings are flagged to the team.

⛔What's not allowed

  • Giving or asking for the code before arrival, or by message: the chat blocks it.
  • Offering or accepting to pay directly, outside UpMyChain: no more protection (dispute, redo, refund), and the account may be suspended.
  • Travelling without a paid visit: the trip is then not compensated.
  • Endless rescheduling, or repeatedly reporting absences: our checks spot it and the team reviews.

FAQ

Why pay for a trip to get a quote?

Because a real quote sometimes means seeing, measuring, opening things up. A fixed, UpMyChain-protected €50 guarantees the client a pro who really comes, and the pro a serious client. Many jobs can be quoted without a visit: then nothing is owed.

Is the €50 deducted from the quote?

No: it's a travel fee, separate from the quote, like an Airbnb cleaning fee. If the project goes ahead, it joins the job budget and is only paid to the pro when you approve the work (or 14 days after delivery with no complaint).

The pro doesn't come. What happens?

If no code is entered within 14 days of payment, you're fully refunded, automatically. If they don't confirm a date within 48 h, you get the same refund, sooner.

What if I can't make it?

Say so in the conversation as early as possible: the pro can propose a new date (within the 14 days), and you'll get new reminders. Up to 24 hours before the appointment, you can also cancel online: full, automatic refund. A client absent without notice may lose the €50, after UpMyChain reviews it.

Why not give the code in advance?

Because the code is the proof that the pro came. Given beforehand, it proves nothing, and you'd be the one losing your protection.

Is my location required?

No. The pro is asked for it when entering the code or reporting an absence, and it stays optional; it's only used as proof in case of disagreement.

What commission does UpMyChain take?

15% on the visit, taken from the pro's side: the client pays €50 incl. VAT, nothing more, and the pro receives €42.50.

Do I need an account?

Yes, to pay for the visit: it takes a few seconds from the conversation. Your email address is never shown to the pro.
